Today is the Day!!!!

Hi!

I'm all set to leave THIS afternoon! I can't believe this day is finally here! After months of crazy paperwork and stressing about my student visa, everything is in place and we are good to go. My mom, dad and I leave Dallas for a few connecting flights that finally bring us into Florence on Friday morning. They are staying for a week, while I'll be a little longer, so lucky for them they didn't have to pack as much. 2 suitcases, one backpack and a purse are all that I am taking with me for 4 months... Granted my suitcases weigh a ton. Let's just hope I didn't forget anything.

I'll let y'all know when we make it! Don't forget to look at all my new pictures that I'll be posting!

Study abroad journal coming soon!!!

Hey everyone!

As I said in a previous post, this fashion blog will be my online journal about my Study Abroad adventures in Florence, Italy beginning January 23rd. I will do my best to blog very frequently, so that family and friends can all go on this journey with me! Pictures will be compiled in a Flickr account for easy uploading and viewing, and the link to that is under the Study Abroad Pictures tab on my homepage, or also here :) I'll still blog about fashion though! I will probably add another page on the homepage about Italian trends or Italian street wear.

So… onto the topic of communication. Technology is amazing these days! You can reach me a ton of ways while I am gone for this Spring semester! Feel free to:

  1. Send me emails using my Baylor email or my Verizon email accounts
  2. Send me private messages on Facebook, or write on my wall, or whatever else there
  3. Comment on anything on this blog
  4. Text me: I have a WhatsApp account for free texting
  5. Skype or FaceTime me whenever I have Wifi (I will be 7 hours ahead Central time)
  6. You can also call me using a number on a rented phone (haven't received yet)
  7. Follow me on Instagram (loganTscandling), direct message me on Instagram
  8. Follow me on Twitter (same username), follow me on Pinterest (same username). And if all of those fail, you can send me mail to:
  9. Logan Scandling
c/o Florence University of the Arts
Realistically, I probably won't use Twitter or Pinterest very much, so don't rely on those. And I hear international snail-mail is very unreliable but you are welcome to try it nonetheless.
I hope this was helpful! :)

Holiday Glamour

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been blogging lately, gearing up for study abroad plus school plus life was very time consuming! So, lots of changes to come with the blog as I begin to document my time in Italy. I will hopefully get everything organized soon! But until then, here are some more pretty edits I made on polyvore, of outfits that I could never afford, but a girl can dream :)

Trend Mixing!

Hey y'all!

So I really liked my outfit yesterday and wanted to talk about it. I wanted to pull together a few trends all at one time, just to show that you don't have to do just one trend every day!

I'm doing some sort of a bohemian-tribal-pink-rocker kind of thing… with a pop of color. But it doesn't look that crazy! At least I don't think so… :) So my point is, don't be afraid to mix trends!!! Also, side note, I'm obsessed with my new earmuff from Charming Charlie and my "fly away" vest from Macy's.

Tell me what you think about trend mixing! And as always, vivre la mode, tout le monde!

Summer Florals

Summer Florals

I love this look! This floral blazer is everything, and I so want it. A great way to add some color and some femininity into a dull work wardrobe. Squeeze those florals into your end-of-summer wardrobe before fall starts!!!

Cheers for the Statement Necklace

Hi friends!
I'm sure you've all seen the red carpet shows recently, and it seems like everyone is going minimalistic on their jewelry! Except for one piece… the necklace. Lots of stars are seen wearing one HUGE piece of jewelry around their neck! And I love it. I think it's a great trend. Wanna know why? IT LOOKS GOOD ON EVERYBODY. See for yourself!

As shown on all these different kinds of people, statement necklaces rock. No matter what your hair color, skin color, size, height, age, income, this trend has some serious staying power. From royals to college kids, this trend can dress up any outfit. There are a few reasons why this trend is so popular:
  1. It draws the eye upward, keeping focus on your pretty face and off of your body, therefore flattering any body type.
  2. It flatters almost all necklines of dresses and shirts, making it easy to mix and match- making it a great wardrobe staple piece
  3. They come in any price point
  4. They come in all colors and styles, virtually anyone can find one they like
  5. Layering smaller, longer necklaces with a short statement one can result in a chic new look! Easily customizable and gives your wardrobe versatility.

This is just a small example of all the large statement necklaces I have in my closet right now… I'm kind of obsessed with this trend. It's great for college kids on a budget that also want to look cool and trendy!

So don't be afraid to wear a big necklace! Just remember:
  • Go minimal on the rest of your jewelry
  • Don't overdo the makeup if you have on an exceptionally large necklace
  • Let the necklace speak for itself
  • Mix and match, don't be afraid!
  • Have fun!
If you haven't included this piece of jewelry into your wardrobe yet, go try it! Have fun this summer trying something new. And as always, vivre la mode, tout le monde!
